Excursions for the whole family
There is really something for everyone in Carinthia, besides the lakes and hiking there are plenty of attractions that you can visit. Below is a small selection from the range:
Tours in the area
Motorcyclists also get their money’s worth here. There are many tours with beautiful views, such as:
Tour 1: Villacher Aplenstraße and Goldeck 386 km
Tour 2: Großglockner and Nockalm 319 km
Tour 3: Grand Gerlos Round trip 410 km
Tour 4: Around the Großglockner 337 km
Natural there are also shorter tours near. We live along Gerlitzenstraße and driving up here is also a beautiful ride. The motorcycles can be stored in a closed place.
For the cyclists
The Drauradweg: 230 km long in total. You cycle along the banks of the Drau. You can return by train if necessary.
You can also cycle around the Ossiachersee, a trip of about 30 km. For the daredevils there is the permanent Downhill track.
You can take the bicycle bus to Kranska Gora or Tarvis and you can cycle back at your own pace.
Many tours have also been set out by the tourist office.
For the hikers
There are many walking tours in the area and something for everyone.
Alpe-Adria trail
The Alpe-Ardia route connects the regions of Carinthia, Slovenia and Friaul Julian Venice and consists of 43 stages and a total of about 750 km.
The hiking trail starts at the foot of Austria’s highest mountain, the Großglockner, and takes you past many lakes and mountains to easily reach the border triangle, Austria, Italy, Slovenia and then continues to Muggia on the Adriatic Sea.
Thermenresort Warmbad-Villach
If it is a rainy day, you can enjoy yourself here. Near the Warmbad Villach is the Maibachl, which is a hot natural spring. You have to see and experience this.
Burg Landskron
An old castle where a show with wild birds is regularly given. You can watch an eagle spot and dive for its prey from a great height here.
Harley-Davidson European Bike Week
This is the ideal time for motorcycle fans in Carinthia. The tours between mountains and lakes, on panoramic roads and mountain passes in the south of Austria are just as colorful and varied as the mild autumn.
